The eventful journey «Volga Ethnic Kaleidoscope» takes place on the Mustai Karim, a Luxury Deluxe (Vodohod-operated) comfortable motor ship. What are the anchorages along the route famous for?
Plyos, a picturesque town famous for its charm and bright colors of nature. Despite challenging trips, it was here that ships carrying Russian intellectuals moored. Nowadays, the town is famous for the paintings of the artist I. I. Levitan that are available in the Plyos Museum-Reserve. The Museum-Reserve features only a landscape museum but also a memorial house-museum of the famous painter, a cultural center, a museum and exhibition complex.
Nizhny Novgorod is often called the “Pearl of the Volga” for a reason! The flair of the old Russian merchant city dating back to the 13th century is remembered by everyone without exception. The Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin of the 16th century, a local fair selling a variety of handicrafts, a cableway over the Volga – all contribute to the complete image of the city and introduce its rich and interesting history to you.
Kostroma, a quiet place that once became the main city of the Russian Empire. It was there that the first Tsar of the new dynasty, Mikhail Romanov, was “called to the throne”. Kostroma is home to the Ipatiev Monastery featuring the famous Trinity Cathedral, the Fire Tower, a sort of the city’s landmarks and the Kostroma Epiphany-Anastasiin Convent founded back in 1426.
