What are the anchorages along the route famous for?

Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, a young city that is already known for its brightness, contrast and hospitality. Its buildings erected during the Soviet era stand next to pre-revolutionary mansions and mosques stand next to Orthodox churches. Such a harmonious interweaving of cultures and history could not leave the capital of Dagestan without interesting places that make it worth visiting it at least once. It offers organized excursions to the Sulak Canyon, the deepest canyon in Europe and one of the most striking and exciting natural attractions in Dagestan. Words can't do justice to the beauty of the Sulak Canyon’s majestic views; but you can check out them with your own eyes. In Makhachkala, you can also try very tasty melons, watermelons and peaches and enjoy local lamb dishes endlessly.

Astrakhan, the «Pearl of the Volga Region» with a rich history founded in the 16th century by Ivan the Terrible. Astrakhan is a paradise for gourmets, hunting and fishing enthusiasts. The city has always been famous for its fish delicacies such as caviar and Caspian sturgeon, beluga and dried roach. Astrakhan's sights are essentially evidence of the proximity of different cultures, religions and eras: the Assumption and Nikolsky Cathedrals, the Church of the Holy First Apostle Prince Vladimir, the Kazan Cathedral Mosque, the Church of John Chrysostom, the Church of the Kazan Mother of God, the Armenian Church, the «House of the Merchant Tetyushinov» are all examples of wooden architecture dating back to the late 19th century. The Astrakhan Region is home to famous natural attractions: the salt lake Baskunchak, lotus fields and the Volga River Delta Biosphere Reserve.

Nikolskoye, a village on the right bank of the River Volga, being a regional center of the Astrakhan Region. A stone five-domed church that amazes with its size is the first thing that travelers can see when approaching the Nikolskoye Village. It is the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary built in 1802 based on the design of the architect Sergei Karyagin. Today it is considered the largest Orthodox church in the Volga Region.
