Kineshma is a city (since 1777) in the Ivanovo region of Russia. In 2010, the city was included into the list of historical settlements of federal significance. Initially, Kineshma was a small settlement, the inhabitants of which were engaged in fishing for themselves and the sovereign; then it grew and formed a posad. In one of its parts, the Yamskaya Sloboda (later Zarechye or Turuntaevka), coachmen lived, whose lineage came from Turuntai Pronsky and belonged to the armored boyars class. At the beginning of the 20th century, traces of an earthen rampart and a dry moat remained intact. Kineshma is known for its factory buildings of the 19th century, many of which are still working and give a special charm to city landscapes.
